CHRISTMAS TALES – ‘TALES FROM GEPPETTO’S WORKSHOP’

This Christmas do something different with your family; come to Chickenshed and experience the magical theatre for children this winter in Geppetto’s Workshop for a limited time only!
After a sell out tour of Christmas Tales last year, the Chickenshed Tales team are back with a newly devised, fun packed entertaining adaptation of Pinocchio’s story called ‘Tales from Geppetto’s workshop’. Our story follows the toys that are left behind in Geppetto’s workshop. You will all be apart of the story of the most recent toy created, a puppet who has no story, we will all embark on a journey to discover her story, with a little help from a few of our familiar friends from the shed and also some new ones too and especially YOU!

A Show where there is no edge to the stage, YOU, ME and US will create this show!

This is a fantastic way to stimulate your child’s creative imagination while being educated to The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). ‘Tales of Geppetto’s Workshop’ looks at the themes of giving, growing and learning to love who we are, using song, slapstick, puppetry, interaction and improvisation.

Not only is this Christmas Tales production at Chickenshed Theatre for selective dates with a bigger cast and bigger ambitions, the ‘Tales from Geppetto’s Workshop’ could be in your school too. With an interactive showcase of performance and workshop for Nursery to Yr2 age children.

  1. Laura I like your marketing piece and I think that you do this well. I especially like your quote next to the picture as it is like the statement to the Geppetto’s workshop. The picture also breaks up the text and makes you want to continue reading.
I think that marketing the workshop to schools is an excellent idea as schools that are keen on performance and the arts will find this very useful and rewarding to the children and the school as interacting with different skills such as puppetry, singing and improvisation can enhance learning in the classroom and develop social skills.
I’m a little unsure about the jargon near the end in commas about class sizes been bigger, it's to confusing and personally would just edit it out and feel it's a question that can be answered after they have been in contact. Do you agree?
I also think that advertising this to zero year olds was odd as can you be zero? Can you really advertise a workshop to a newborn baby? Do you think that this is a little implausible?
Another thing, you have said that the workshop "was" £275? So was it £275 last year? Is it £275 now? I think this is giving mixed messages about what the real price is or you have slipped into the past tense?
Otherwise I think that this is engaging to read and well advertised.

  2. Thankyou Abbi great feedback. reading it back with the points you highlighted I can definitely see what you are saying with the ‘costs’ and the age.
For the jargon, I did feel at the time of writing the information for the schools The extra information about costs, times, class sizes etc that it may have been a bit too much, but you’re right the extra small details would be discussed once contacted. I think I might just cut out the extra info and put a sentence stating that the workshop can be tailored to meet your schools needs.
Once I’ve edited this draft do I put the developed one up on my blogger page too? Sorry that was probly a silly question.
Thank you again you really helped

I am looking at this from a 'parent's' viewpoint and readability... the introduction area is good but is a bit dense and then the information seems to go on too long – I begin to loose focus. Is your target audience families or School groups – you seem to cater for both. I might try to visit some other theatre sites that cater for both to see how they combine the ‘blurb’. Good detail – which is important – and the idea of promoting theatre as an educational experience is well-stated… in a brochure you could separate some of the information which is difficult on the Blog – I have your mount at 490 so that is about what is asked for…
